Rental Guide

1. Booking Your Rental

• Use our website or TripAdvisor to book your kayak or kayak + roof rack combo.
• Select your desired rental date and duration.
• Provide necessary personal information and payment details to confirm your booking.
• You will receive a confirmation email with your booking details.

2. Preparing for Pickup

• Ensure you have received the confirmation email and any additional instructions.
• Review the Liability Release Waiver. You will sign one prior to picking up your rental equipment.
• Ensure you bring a valid government issued photo ID
• Review our cancellation policy and other relevant policy.
• Gather any personal items you’ll need for your kayaking adventure (e.g., water, sunscreen, etc.).

3. Pickup Process

• Arrive at On The Road Kayak Rentals to pick up your equipment.
• Present your booking confirmation and a valid government issued photo ID at the rental office.
• Our staff will assist you in attaching the roof rack and securing the kayak to your vehicle.
• You will receive safety instructions and tips for using the equipment.

4. Enjoy Your Kayaking Adventure

• Go at your own pace and explore the waters of Halifax and beyond.
• Ensure you follow all safety guidelines and local regulations while kayaking.
• Take plenty of photos and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

5. Preparing for Dropoff

• Plan your trip to ensure you return on time.
• Clean any debris or dirt from the equipment before returning it.
• Inspect the equipment for any damage or issues.

6. Dropoff Process

• Return all rented equipment by 8:30 PM on the last day of your rental period.
• Our staff will assist you in unloading and inspecting the equipment.
• You will be charged for any damages or missing items as per our rental agreement. If there is any damage to the rented equipment, you will be charged in accordance with the Damage Fee Matrix.

7. Late Return Policy

• If the equipment is returned late without notice, an extra charge of $80 will be applied for each day the equipment is late. Ignorance as an excuse will not be accepted.
• At On The Road Kayak Rentals, we know that life has a way of getting in the way. If due to unforeseen circumstances, you are required to return the equipment late, or suspect you will return the equipment late, please contact On The Road Kayak Rentals as soon as possible. We are flexible and can potentially accommodate a late return.
